Grampians Grape Escape - the Wine and Food Festival

The festival committee are aiming to bring some new and fun activities to the festival, so stay tuned as more details are confirmed.

NEW ACTIVITIES -

Friday Night @ The Gap Vineyard hosted by Grampians Produce Inc & The Gap Winery

Friday April 30 at The Gap Winery, Halls Gap

Meal times: Between 6pm & 10pm. Features two course meal of freshly roasted Lamb from a Glenthompson Brick Oven, in a Halls Gap Bakery roll with potato and greens, followed by delicious Lemon Tartlets and Icecream from Green Eggs and Grampians Lavender Patch. Accompanied by award winning Mt Langi Ghiran and The Gap wines and Three Troupers Boutique Beers. Sausage sizzle for the kids! Tea, coffee and other refreshments available. Price: Prices are only $20 per person 13 years & over, $10 per child 12 & under and $50 for a family of 2 adults with children under 13 years.

All Weekend - BSK Adventures

April 30 - Start your Grampians wine and food escape with a relaxing sunset /night walk in the bush. Learn about the local fauna, flora and natural history of the area while watching the sun set with some new friends. Head lamps, wine, local produce to nibble, telescope, smiles and a great walking trail to view the sunset are all included. $25 per person.

May 1 - Early risers will love the chance to start the day with a great walk to see the first light of the sun hitting the Grampians` stunning sandstone escarpments. A hearty bush breakfast overlooking the national park's bush is another highlight of the morning and a perfect start to your day at the festival. $50 per person.

May 2 - Keen to get out of the car and onto the saddle? This morning we ride a lovely loop through the National Park to see some of the beautiful sights, sounds and images this region has to offer. Our JAMIS mountain bikes are perfect for getting offroad and onto some quiet tracks with bold escarpment views and wildlife filled bush scenery. The smell of Eucalyptus, the quick glimpse of a blue tongue lizard, a family of Emus or the many Macropods that call the park home will make for a great and challenging adventure this morning. Bikes (all sizes catered for), helmets, water, snacks and bush breakfast included. $50 per person.

Saturday Night under the Stars
with Stony Creek Traders

Saturday May 1, 2010 at Stony Creek
in Main Street, Halls Gap, from 6pm

Looking for a place to eat, choose from the various venues at Stony Creek or enjoy a bowl of hearty soup made from local Grampians Produce. Music from 7pm - 9.30pm with Ducks in the Mud performing on the creek.

Craft Market at Halls Gap Primary School

Sunday May 2, 9am - 1pm, School Road, Halls Gap

Home made and home grown produce and goodies, clothes, art and craft items Egg and bacon rolls, sausage sizzle, hot and cold drinks. All proceeds to aid the Halls Gap Primary School.

Grampians Winemakers Barrique Auction

Saturday 1 May at 2pm — On the Village Oval

This is a truly unique opportunity to bid for the ownership of 300 bottles of 2008 Grampians Winemakers Barrique Shiraz. Each year, Grampians wineries donate a quantity of their own Shiraz fruit from the previous year’s vintage which is then skillfully blended by one of the region’s winemakers. This year Adam Wadewitz of Best’s Wines Great Western puts his personal style to what will be another fabulous release. Wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to bid for ownership and can choose to make purchases in dozen lots.

Kids entertainment

On the Halls Gap Village Oval all weekend with Tubby the Robot and Thomas the Tank Engine trackless train, plus many more surprises and activities planned.

'Scarecrows Musica... at Cellar Door' Display, Competition and Picnic

at Off the Beaten Track Wine and Art Gallery,
6669 Western Highway, Buangor

Come and view the Scarecrows between April 14 and May 16 and vote for your favourite Scarecrow. Gold coin donation to local charities. Experience the sense the humour, spirit and skill that competition entrants put into this time honoured tradition – scarecrow art at its best!

The theme for this year is 'Scarecrows Musica', with scarecrows being Songsters, Musicians, playing musical instruments or perhaps it could be a wind driven feature, making sound.

Festivities culminate at the 'Scarecrows Picnic' on Sunday May 2, from 11.30am–4pm. Naturally there will be picnic fare and fine Mount Cole Wineworks wines available for purchase, NO BYO ALCOHOL, entry by gold coin donation with no bookings required, Scarecrow judging at 2pm.

Guest judge will be Mr Anthony Camm - Director Ararat Regional Art Gallery.

Unearth hidden treasures as we take you on an eerie and enthralling journey through the 2.5 kilometre underground cellars.
